The Plot: After a night of lame clubbing, self-absorbed slore and fashion model Jennifer (Elisha Cuthbert) awakens to find her ass got ruphied and then locked in a cellar, along with fellow prisoner Gary (Daniel Gillies). As the two try to feebly escape, their invisible, voyeuristic captor (who has the most Captivity movie Elisha Cuthbertridiculously elaborate traps and contraptions that make Jigsaw look like a novice), is watching every move they make. But all may not be what it seems in this transparent shitter directed by Roland Joffé.

The music was not really anything memorable. Some new neo-techno bullshit with added hit songs of 2007. It could have been a lot better if you ask me, but its typical for a movie like this.

The cinematography appeared decent at first, but then there was so much captivity-movie-elisha-cuthbert-daniel-gilliesbullshit regarding camera angles, and a phantom hand held cam, while no one in the scene had a camera in there hands. This pissed me the fuck off.

The acting was decently played out. I mean, I’m not gonna lie, one of the main reasons why I watched this movie in the first place was for Elisha Cuthbert…she’s fine as a mofo. She did do a good job, but I think that the shabby writing just took a little bit away from what it could have been. Daniel Gillies was convincing in his role as well. I cant remember if I’ve seen him in anything else but I can see that changing in the future.

The effects impressed me as far as the gore went, but there just wasn’t enough to really get excited over. Aside from a handful of gory scenes, I could have used a bit more in a torture movie like this one. They did get cheap in a couple parts by just blue screening video that was supposed to be being shown by a projector. That made it look so fake that it defiantly took away from the films overall feel.

Overall I don’t really dig torture movies at all, so going into this movie I was captivity-movie-elisha-cuthbert-cellalready skeptical. Adding that to the extreme predictability of the plot, it made for a plodding shitter. The final nail in the coffin was Elisha not showing off nearly as much skin as I would have hoped for. The closest that it ever gets to nudity is when she strips in the background while the camera is focused on a closer image, so she is totally blurred out. That’s just a total let down man!
