The Plot: Will Smith stars as Hancock, an alcoholic semi-homeless superhero that takes an offer by a PR expert, Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), to help repair his image when the public grows weary of all his bullshit and the damage he has inflicted during his life-saving heroics. Ray’s idea of making the hancock-movie-will-smith-lifting-carantihero do jail time to make the world miss him proves successful, but will Hancock stick to his new sense of purpose or slip back into his old asshole ways? Charlize Theron co-stars in Peter Berg’s action comedy.

The music was a decent mix of traditional hero sound track with some well placed blues and other good genres. They even had the song “Tippi Toes” by the Meters, which impressed the hell outta me. At one point there was even a well placed Sanford and Son theme song.

The acting was fun to watch. Both Jason Bateman and Will Smith played there characters well and had some great lines that made me laugh. They worked well off each other with there sarcastic humor and quick wit. Charlize Theron always acts well in my opinion, and she is definitely easy on the eyes.

The effects were not bad at all. As I said before, the CGI got a little hard to look at in some action scenes, but other key parts were so good that it outshined anything that was annoying. I did enjoy the part they kept showing on the trailers were he gets hit by the train. It looked really sweet to me.

hancock-movie-will-smithOverall I thought that the marketing for this film was done like shit…right up to the naming of the film. My impression of what the film was about judging from the trailer, and how I felt after watching the actual movie was totally different. It was a decent super hero movie dealing with there less seen side personal side. Take it with a grain of salt and just enjoy.
