Very corny bad ass Hong Kong policeman Chia Chu (Jackie Chan) goes undercover in mainland China to fuck up a drug-smuggling ring. After breaking the drug lord’s fu manchu wearing brother out of prison, he and Chinese supercop-jackie-chan-asskickundercover agent Jessica Yang (Michelle Yeoh) gain the trust of the syndicate. But when Chia accidentally runs into his piece of ass girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung), his cover is blown; the criminals kidnap May, and Chia is forced to help pull off another jailbreak.

The Music was the standard action movie type. I did think it was a bit strange that it was drowned out by gunfire and explosions a lot during the action sequences. The other thing that just didn’t seem to fit, and I wonder if it was put in just for the American dub, was all types of hip-hop music playing every time someone is driving a vehicle….just seemed strange hearing Tupac in a Chinese movie.

supercop-badass-standing-on-tankThe Cinematography was pretty good for its time. A lot of action and large explosions to keep you entertained. The fight sequences were filmed really well with only a handful of mistakes in editing and camera angles that made some strikes look fake.

The acting was decent. I did watch the dubbed version so some of it was obviously lost in translation, but it was refreshing to hear that Jackie and I believe Michelle did there own voice over. I did like the combo of these two in the movie, but personally I think that Jackie Chan does better when he works with someone that makes fun of his cheesy humor, alla Chris Tucker in the first Rush Hour movie

The effects were definitely sweet. I have to admit, I’m not a big Jackie Chan supercop-michelle-yeoh-head-kickfan…he is a little too corky as an action star for my taste, but I give the guy credit for doing some of the craziest stunts by himself. In this movie Jackie and Michelle do some dangerous shit and make watching more enjoyable knowing that the action is authentic.
